The Alpirace team has succeeded in winning one of the world's most experienced race directors, in the person of Robert Schiesser, for both the Cologne Media Cup and the Alpirace.

Robert, who has been a "Plumber" since 1984, has been an independent since 2006. He is a Swiss native but lives in Koblenz. Robert looks back at more than 30 years of experience in the sleddog sport. His first race was in 1985. In the following year he took part in an IFSS World Championship in Bad Mitterndorf / Austria. Since then, he has participated in many sprint and middle distance races.

In addition to his active sports career, Robert has been a national race judge since 1996, and since 1998 he became an international race judge for sleddog races. For the past 12 years, he has been a successful race director at international events such as the European and World Championships for various associations. From 2013-2017, he was president of the SSV, the Swiss sleddog club. Since 2016, he is the IFSS Continental Director Europe and Commissioned ESDRA President.

Robert is regarded as a fair, but consistent race director, who prefers a clear word and their disciplined adherence. As a result, Robert not only meets international quality requirements, but surpasses them on the basis of his experience. For the Alpirace team, he is the best possible addition to the position of racerjudges.

Detlef Runau has been one of the most experienced sled dog racing athletes for the past 33 years. As early as 1984 when the first husky came to the house of the Runau’s. 2 malamutes followed in 1986 and in following years Team Detlef expanded to 16 huskies.

Earlier, Detlef recognized the need not only to take advantage of the services provided by the sleddog sport, but also to give his personal input within ​​the club, the association and during numerous races. Well-known races, such as Walbeck or legendary racing locations, e.g. Mauterndorf, Nesselwängle in the Tannheimer Tal, as well as the events in Borken and Bielefeld / Senne were sustainably influenced and constructively supported by Detlef.

Detlef, for example, has created an excellent international reputation with timekeeping. During this time, he was, together with well-known figures of the sleddog sport, Rudi Ropertz, acting race director of popular events, such as Bielefeld / Senne, where he eventually became the sole race director from 2016 onwards.

The ALPIRACE team is proud to win Detlef over as an experienced specialist as well as first-class sports friend, for the COLOGNE MEDIA CUP and the ALPIRACE Trophy.
